Product Description

AquaLegioCon™ is a comprehensive, Legionella Management System. Taking local conditions into consideration, such as existing pipe systems and shunt stubs for example, we have developed a specific solution for nursing homes, hospitals, hotels and swimming pools
for legionella prophylaxis.

Optionally, AqualegioCon can combine the use of a »pipe in pipe« system with our AquaTriLight disinfection system. The pipe in pipe system modifies shunt stubs to loop lines. This minimizes the hazard potential of stagnating water and enables permanent cleaning of the circulating water by means of AquaTriLight’s combined UV- and ultrasonic technology. The system operates in the hot water circuit at up to 80° C. The average water temperature can be reduced by using AquaLegioCon™. This results in a direct saving of energy as well as purification.

Water Disinfection using UV-Light and Ultrasound

Disinfection is achieved using ultraviolet light. The DNA of the microorganisms is permanently damaged. Exposure to intensive near-field radiation of ultrasonic waves results in strong cavitation forces which break through the cell walls of the germs. Germ agglomerates are destroyed; host cells and legionella are selected and can be killed effectively by the UV-light.

Incorporating UV-light and ultrasonic waves in one system combines the advantages of both of these technologies in a way unknown until now. The ultrasonic waves do not only destroy germs but also constantly clean the casing duct of the UV-lamp and the housing. This reduces the maintenance requirement to a minimum. The patented layout of the sound generators produces a strong composite field providing a more effective UV-light passage.

The ever-clean surface of the UV casing duct leads to exceedingly high performance during its entire operating life. AquaTriLight with a flow rate of 10 m³/h whas been certified according to ÖVGW for drinking water disinfection.

Depending on available water quality and the desired area of application, the system can be extended by adding Aquaworx’ MicroSintFilterTM.

Water Filtration using Membrane Technology

Membrane technology is a physical process used to separate a mixture of substances, in which membranes function like filters. Membrane processes are classified as microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis, depending on the dimensions and molecular mass of the substances to be separated. Membrane technology has developed into an advanced key technology directed at closing the water cycle and recycling this valuable resource. Membrane technology has established itself and proven its efficacy as a low-cost, ecological alternative to other separation processes used in waste water treatment such as vaporization, adsorption and absorption, chemical separation or distillation. Thanks to the high efficiency of the cleaning process, standards of advanced waste water treatment can be met, and the resources of groundwater and water courses can be protected. In addition, the technology can be used in many other areas such as filtration of process water for the industrial sector or filtration of other fluids such as oil or milk.

Ultrasound – Mode of Operation

Aquaworx AG developed a cost-effective process of optimizing the filtration results of membrane technology by using duplex operation (or multiplex operation depending on the flow rate). The unique combination of this technology with ultrasound processes delivers two further key benefits in liquid filtration: ultrasound is not only a highly efficient method of cleaning the filter membranes, but also inactivates and eliminates bacteria in their earliest stages of development.
