Reporting Relationships:
The National Sales Manager reports directly to the Head of Business Development for Aquaworx Deutschland, who is located in Arbon, Switzerland.
Opportunity:
This position provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to build up and lead the national sales efforts of a leading innovator in the water filtration and purification industry.
This multifaceted position will focus on developing and implementing market entry, penetration and segmentation strategies for Aquaworx’s existing and future product line in the US market. It affords the unique opportunity to guide the geographical and product expansion efforts of an early-stage company whose cutting-edge technologies make them well-positioned to become a market leader in the industry.
Job Summary/ Responsibilities:
Key to this executive’s success will be the ability to formulate comprehensive short-, medium- and long-term strategic plans and to manage their tactical implementation. The ability to drive sales to large accounts as well as develop and manage relationships with key distributors in the water treatment industry will also be of particular importance. This executive will:
Play a crucial role in enhancing, building and running the company’s sales operations and participate in setting the strategic direction of the firm.
Meet the operational targets set for the business and develop (together with corporate management) the strategy for future growth. He/she has the responsibility to capture opportunities as they arise.
Help guide the product development, product marketing and engineering activities to assure that the U.S. product line clearly reflects market requirements.
Key near-term responsibilities include:
- Leading the aggressive yet profitable build-up/out of Aquaworx’s U.S. market share by entering new markets and developing new relationships.
- Building up and subsequently managing a U.S. sales force; ensuring that all sales efforts and the organizational sales structure are in accordance with developed market penetration and segmentation strategies.
- Assessing all required and/or desirable certifications and listings for the product line and ensuring that these are obtained.
- Directing product marketing and product development activities to ensure that Aquaworx’s products are positioned in the best possible manner on the US market.
- Selecting and engaging third-party manufacturer’s representatives and distributorships and motivating and liaising with them.
- Identifying market opportunities not only within but also outside of the traditional client base.
- Developing strategies to penetrate these markets.
- Initiating and implementing strategic alliances with key partners and customers.
- Providing outstanding customer support.
- Successfully executing a brand and messaging strategy that positions Aquaworx as an industry leader in the water filtration and purification industry and acting as an external evangelist for the brand.
- Identifying and participating in relevant trade shows and conferences.
- Liaising with the executive management team and peers to ensure that sales targets are being defined and met.
- Leveraging an “esprit de corps” across the national and international teams.
Compensation:
A competitive package consisting of base salary, variable pay and other incentives will be available to attract and retain outstanding talent.
The Candidate
Education/Certifications:
BA/BS degree from a leading academic institution is required; MBA preferred
Professional Qualifications:
- Experience running a highly successful territory using both direct and indirect channels. A solid and verifiable track-record is required.
- Minimum 5+ years experience in the water purification/filtration industry is required.
- Advanced technical aptitude required; ability to understand the technical workings of all products and convey their benefits over competing product offerings effectively.
- International experience / mindset required.
- Language capabilities in Spanish or German would be beneficial but are not a job requirement.
- Solid business acumen and proven ability to build and implement corporate strategy supporting top-line revenue growth in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Proven track record of identifying, negotiating/converting and closing large dollar deals.
- Proven track-record identifying and converting new accounts while maintaining existing relationships.
- Articulate with strong writing and presentation skills. In addition, this manager will possess strong analytical and financial capabilities, be process-oriented and attentive to detail.
